Biography
When you are a music lover, especially if you are a fan of pop music, then you must know about Michael Jackson. He was born on August 29, 1958. He is known to the world as the King of Pop. Michael Jackson shocked the world when he married Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the late (deceased) rock legend Elvis Presley (1935–1977). Michael Jackson was one of 10 children; nine Jackson siblings, including Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy, and Janet, all made marks in the music industry.
He is also one of the greatest entertainers to hit the stage. His album Thriller, released in 1982, was one of the best-selling albums of all time. It has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and set a record for being the first album to sell a million copies on its first day alone. His career as a solo artist started in 1971 when he released his first album, “Got to Be There.” He made history as the first artist to have five top 10 singles from one album and as the only person to have seven number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during his lifetime. He broke racial barriers with his 1983 album Thriller, and is one of the most successful music artists in history. In 1985, Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones reunited for a charity record that would become one of the most successful recordings in history. Released as a single, “We Are the World” raised more than $63 million dollars in its first year. Jackson’s next two albums, Bad (1987) and Dangerous (1991). He also founded Heal the World Foundation in 1992 to help children who suffered from poverty and disease. Over the years this charity organization has been fighting for human rights, improving health care, and raising awareness about all sorts of natural disasters around the world.
Michael Jackson’s family is reportedly weighing whether to hold a traditional Muslim burial for the singer, who converted to Islam months before his death. An autopsy was completed on the 50-year-old pop icon this week, but it has not yet been released. Michael Jackson’s death was a huge shock for all the fans of his music. His sudden death at the age of 50 left everyone in complete shock on June 25, 2009.
